“Dr Darshana Sedera is well-known and well-published academic in the field. He has an impressive list of high quality publications, contributing to the theory and practice …” – Australian Research Council Independent Assessor (2018)
I am an enthusiastic, boundary-spanner in research, teaching and service in the disciplines of Information Systems, Innovation, Business Intelligence, Social Media and Enterprise Systems.
I have over 150 peer reviewed publications to-date, including publications at premier journals in the discipline. Some examples of such outlets include; The Journal of the Association for Information Systems, The Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Information and Management, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, and The Australasian Journal of Information Systems. My strong knowledge of the various research methodologies, blue-ocean thinking, time-management and my inspirational abilities have resulted in producing 55 publications in the past 55 months, that includes 16 journals in ABDC A or A*, 10 publications at the premier conference in information systems discipline, 2 edited books, 2 invited book chapters and 18 peers reviewed conference papers.
I have 20 papers accepted to the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) – the premier conference in information systems discipline.
I am privilege to collaborate with over 40 leading international researchers in my publications. I partnered with Prof. Eph McLean at the Georgia State University to be the sole Chief Investigator of an ARC Discovery grant to deepen our understanding of the complexities of system use.
I hold several local, national and global leadership roles. I chair The Special Interest Group for Enterprise Systems (SIG-ES), which is a testimonial to my leadership abilities.
I seek unique and novel opportunities to engage with the industry partners through regular gatherings, training and consultancies.
I organize the monthly executive seminar series, where leading CIOs in Australia come and present various contemporary topics on technology, management and innovation. Selected interviews from the seminar participants can be viewed under videos.
In teaching, I have developed subjects on Enterprise Systems, CRM, and Business Intelligence curricula. In 2014, I pioneered the first industry-sponsored subject, partnering with Fujitsu (Australia) to introduce a cutting-edge CRM course.
